  • Our client acquitted in a criminal case will also receive full compensation for unlawful detention and prosecution

On May 24, 2024, we reported the termination of the criminal prosecution against our client A.Gh. on the basis of acquittal. (/link/).
After that, attorney Edgar Ayvazyan continued taking measures aimed at restoring and protecting A.Gh.’s violated rights, submitting a lawsuit to the court demanding compensation for the damage caused to the acquitted person.

The court of first instance had partially granted the claim, compensating only the salary that A.Gh. had not received. As a result of filing an appeal, the Civil Court of Appeal, by its decision of November 20, 2025, granted the appeal and stated that the acquitted person is entitled not only to receive the salary, but also the bonus lost due to being in detention, the non-pecuniary damage caused to him, as well as the amount paid to the lawyer — regardless of who actually paid it (civil case No. ED2/6580/02/24).

We express our gratitude to the judges of the RA Civil Court of Appeal — N. Margaryan, D. Serobyan, and G. Khachatryan — for issuing a well-reasoned and fair judicial act.
