On 23 February 2023, an investigator of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia initiated criminal proceedings based on the elements of an alleged offence provided for under Article 461(1) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, in connection with S.G.’s alleged evasion of the 2022 winter conscription for compulsory military service and departure from the Republic of Armenia.
On 21 April 2023, the supervising prosecutor issued a decision to initiate public criminal prosecution against S.G. under Article 461(1) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
By a decision dated 10 June 2026, detention was imposed on S.G. as a preventive measure, and the accused was also declared wanted.
Since May 2025, S.G.’s interests had been represented by Gurgen Nersisyan, an attorney at LSA Law Firm. As a result of the consideration of a number of motions submitted by the attorney, it was established and proven that S.G. had no obligation to perform compulsory fixed-term military service and, consequently, was not a subject of the offence in question.
Based on the foregoing, by a decision of the supervising prosecutor in the criminal proceedings dated 16 September 2026, the criminal prosecution against S.G. was terminated on exonerating grounds, and the preventive measure of detention was revoked.
